The post-Brexit, COVID era, it can be difficult to keep up with the rules on what is needed to travel.  These rules are often subject to rapid changes, and so we advise always checking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/uk-border-control\">Gov.UK website<\/a> for the latest official advise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As it stands, these are <strong>the new (and current) rules on entering the UK<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Passenger Locator Form:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before entering the UK, you need to have filled out a passenger locator form <strong>within 48 hours of entering the country<\/strong>. Therefore, in this form, you need to provide the <strong>details of your journey<\/strong>, detailing which countries you have recently visited. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you submit the form online, you will receive an email with a document attached. At border control, you must either show a <strong>printed copy<\/strong> of this document, or <strong>download a copy<\/strong> of it on to your phone. We recommend always printing a <strong>hard copy<\/strong> in case of technological issues! Border Force officers will scan the <strong>QR code<\/strong> at the top of this document to check you have successfully completed the form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Negative PCR Test<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before your travel to the UK, you will need to provide a <strong>negative COVID-19 test<\/strong>. This additionally applies to UK citizens. Furthermore, <strong>all countries have now been taken off the travel corridor list<\/strong>. The test must be taken <strong>3 days<\/strong> before you start your journey to the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the test must meet standards of <strong>&gt;97% specificity<\/strong>. For example, this could be a <strong>PCR<\/strong> test, including the <strong>LAMP<\/strong> tests, or an <strong>antigen test<\/strong>, such as the <strong>lateral flow device<\/strong>. For more information on the difference in each of these tests, see this <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/coronavirus-what-are-the-different-types-of-covid-19-tests-12068081\">Sky article<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test result must be in either <strong>English<\/strong>, <strong>French<\/strong> or <strong>Spanish<\/strong>. <strong>Translations will not be accepted<\/strong>, and you must provide the <strong>original test result certificate<\/strong>. It must show your name, age, result of the test, date the rest sample was collected, name of the test provider and name of the test device.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proof can be provided as a <strong>physical<\/strong>, <strong>printed<\/strong> <strong>document<\/strong>, or via <strong>email<\/strong> or <strong>text<\/strong> <strong>message<\/strong> which you can show on your <strong>phone<\/strong>. If you arrive without proof of a negative test result, you could be fined \u00a3500. For the latest information, see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/coronavirus-covid-19-testing-for-people-travelling-to-england\">Gov.UK testing advise<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Quarantine on Arrival<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You must <strong>self-isolate<\/strong> for the first <strong>10 days after arrival<\/strong>. You must self-isolate even if you tested negative. The government will use the details from the passenger locator form to check that you are self-isolating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, you can end the self-isolation period early by <strong>paying<\/strong> for a <strong>private coronavirus test<\/strong>. This is under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/coronavirus-covid-19-test-to-release-for-international-travel\">Test to Release<\/a> scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ignoring the rules of self-isolation can carry fines of up to <strong>\u00a310,000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Will I need a visa?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the rules on whether you need a visa or not <strong>depend on your individual case<\/strong>.
