SWORN TRANSLATION OF CERTIFICATES FOR DOCTORS AND HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS

Any UK doctor or healthcare professional wanting to work in another country will need their medical certificates translated by a sworn translator in order for them to be valid in another country, such as Spain. In today’s post, we will offer you information on some of the ways to obtain the necessary certificates, and guide you in finding a sworn translation service for medical and healthcare training certificates.

Which training certificates require a sworn translation?

Any document written in a language other than the official language of the country in which it is to be submitted must be accompanied by the corresponding sworn translation. In the UK, as a common law country, there is no such thing as a sworn translator. However, in civil law countries such as France, Spain, Germany, and Italy, sworn translators (usually with a degree or other equivalent qualification in translation) are appointed and accredited by the relevant government authorities.

The following are the most common certificates we receive for translation.

General Medical Council registration certificate

This certificate confirms that a doctor is fully, or provisionally, registered with the GMC. It contains the following information about the doctor: their name, date of issue of the certificate, registration dates with the GMC, their address, all registered qualifications, and if applicable, Specialist Register entry information.

If you need to submit this certificate in any foreign country, you will need a sworn translation.

NHS Foundation Programme Certificate of Completion (FPCC)

This certifies that a doctor has completed the UK medical foundation programme and is eligible to train in their chosen specialty, or general practice (GP). If you are interested in completing further medical training, or specialty training in another country, it will be essential for this document to be translated by a sworn translator from that country.

Where can I get a translation of my certificate? At iTrad Translations, our team of sworn translators are well versed in the translation of certificates in the medical and healthcare field. All our translators are accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and we have ISO 17100:2015 quality certification.
